Trust & regulation
How the regulated UK clinics we compare are licensed, who reviews your care, and how to verify a clinic on official UK registers.
Is Sanara Health a pharmacy or clinic?
No. Sanara Health is an independent comparison platform, not a pharmacy or clinic. Consultations, prescribing decisions and dispensing all happen at the regulated UK online clinic you choose — its own GPhC pharmacy number and GMC/GPhC-registered clinicians are published on its own site so you can verify them on the official registers before you order.
Who reviews my consultation?
A named, UK-registered prescriber employed by the clinic you choose — a doctor (GMC), independent pharmacist prescriber (GPhC) or nurse prescriber (NMC) — reviews every consultation. Prescriptions are never issued automatically from a questionnaire alone, and the prescriber may contact you for more information before making a decision.
Is this service legal in the UK?
Yes. Every clinic we compare must meet GPhC standards and MHRA requirements for genuine, licensed medicines. Look for the same safeguards you would expect from a high-street pharmacy: clinical assessment, identity verification where required, and pharmacist dispensing — all carried out by the clinic, not by Sanara.
Are the medicines genuine UK-licensed products?
Yes. The clinics we compare source prescription medicines through UK wholesale channels and dispense them through their own GPhC-registered pharmacy team — the same supply chain used by high-street chemists. A reputable clinic will not substitute a different medicine without telling you and getting your agreement.
Can I verify a clinic on the GPhC register?
Yes — and you should, before using any online pharmacy. Search the clinic's GPhC pharmacy number (usually shown in its site footer or About page) at pharmacyregulation.org. If a clinic will not show a verifiable GPhC number, do not use it.
Consultation & prescribing
What happens during assessment, identity checks, prescriber review, and when treatment is — or is not — supplied by the clinic you choose.
Can I just buy medication at the checkout?
No — and you should be cautious of any service that lets you. For prescription medicines, UK rules require a proper clinical assessment. You complete a confidential consultation on the clinic's own site, a registered prescriber reviews it (and may contact you), and treatment is only supplied if it is safe and appropriate for you.
What happens if I am not suitable for treatment?
If the clinic's prescriber decides a treatment is not appropriate, it will not be supplied, and a reputable clinic refunds any treatment fee you have paid. You will be advised on safer or more suitable next steps — which may include seeing your GP in person.
Why do I need to complete a medical questionnaire?
Pharmacy-only and prescription-only medicines must only be supplied when a clinician confirms they are safe and effective for you. The questionnaire covers your health history, current medicines, and symptoms — the same information a GP or pharmacist would need in person.
Why do clinics carry out identity checks?
UK regulators require online pharmacies to verify who they are treating — similar to registering with a GP surgery. A clinic may verify your name, date of birth, and address automatically; if that fails, it will ask for photo ID and proof of address. You normally only complete this once, with the clinic you use.
Can I order prescription medicine for someone else?
No. Prescription consultations must be completed by the patient themselves. A prescription must be issued for a named individual who has been clinically assessed by the clinic. Pharmacy-only products for minor conditions may sometimes be ordered for a family member, but the person taking the medicine should complete the suitability questions where possible.
Why might a prescriber contact me after I order?
Sometimes a clinic needs extra clinical information — for example about your blood pressure, other medicines, or recent test results — before it can safely prescribe. You will normally receive a secure message through the clinic's own account system or by email. Reply within the timeframe it gives you, or your order may be cancelled and refunded.
Will the clinic contact my GP?
With your consent, a clinic can share relevant information with your GP to support safe, joined-up care. A reputable clinic always asks before doing so, and you can usually give your GP's details during its own checkout if you would like them notified.
Is the online consultation free?
At most clinics, the clinical assessment is included in the programme price for prescription treatments, with no separate consultation fee on top. If you are not suitable, you are not charged for the medicine — check the specific clinic's terms before you start.
Ordering & payment
Checkout, payment timing, receipts, and how repeat ordering works at the clinic you order from.
What will appear on my bank or card statement?
Good clinics show a neutral descriptor on card and bank statements — never a medicine name, condition, or "pharmacy" wording that reveals what you ordered. Your receipt and order details are held in the account you set up with the clinic you choose, not with Sanara.
Does Sanara take payment on its website?
No. Sanara never takes payment or holds your card details — it is a comparison platform, not a checkout. When you click through to a clinic and complete its assessment, payment is taken through that clinic's own secure, PCI-compliant payment partner. For prescription treatments, a reputable clinic authorises your card first and only charges it once its prescriber approves your order and it is dispatched.
When is my card charged?
This is set by the clinic you choose, not by Sanara. Typically your bank shows a temporary authorisation when you confirm your order, and the card is charged once the clinic's prescriber approves it and it is dispatched — not while your consultation is still under review. If your order is declined clinically, the charge is normally cancelled or refunded.
What payment methods does the clinic accept?
Most UK clinics accept major debit and credit cards through a secure payment provider. Saved card details, where offered, are stored by that payment processor — not by Sanara — using industry-standard encryption.
Will I receive a receipt or order confirmation?
Yes. The clinic you order from sends an email confirmation when your order is placed and another when your treatment is dispatched, including tracking where applicable.
How do repeat orders work?
Repeat ordering is handled directly by the clinic you used for your original order — contact its support team with your previous order number. You will still confirm your medical details, and a prescriber reviews each supply where required by law.
Can I use more than one discount code?
This depends on the clinic's own checkout — typically only one promotional code can be applied per order. If several offers are available, choose the one that gives you the best value.
Can I order by phone?
Prescription consultations must be completed online, on the clinic's own site, so your answers are recorded accurately and reviewed by a prescriber. Sanara's support team can help by email if you have trouble finding the right comparison or link.
What expiry dates do medicines have?
Reputable clinics use stock rotation so medicines arrive with the longest possible expiry — typically at least six months for ongoing treatments unless a shorter date is unavoidable and clearly communicated.
Delivery & packaging
Discreet UK delivery, tracking, cold-chain handling for weekly treatments, and what to do if a parcel is delayed.
Is delivery discreet?
Plain, unmarked outer packaging — no product names, logos, or condition labels on the box. Courier labels use a neutral sender name that does not reference the treatment. Courier tracking shows a neutral sender where possible. The clinic's own portal and order emails should not name your condition in subject lines.
What time do I need to order by for same-day dispatch?
Cutoffs are set by each clinic, but many dispatch same-day for orders approved before their afternoon cutoff, Monday to Friday. Orders approved after 3pm or at weekends dispatch the next working day. You'll receive tracking by email once the clinic dispatches your parcel.
How fast is UK delivery?
Most clinics offer standard tracked delivery (typically 2–3 working days after dispatch, from £2.99) and express tracked (1–2 working days after dispatch, from £4.99) at checkout. Weekly weight-loss treatment doses are usually sent in cold-chain packaging. Check the specific clinic's delivery page for full details.
Can I collect my order instead of home delivery?
Prefer not to receive parcels at home? Many clinics let you select a local Post Office or parcel-shop collection point at checkout.
Will anyone know what is inside the parcel?
No. Reputable clinics use plain, unmarked outer packaging with no product names, logos, or condition labels on the box. Most tablet orders fit through a standard UK letterbox where size allows.
Do the clinics you compare deliver across the UK?
Most deliver to UK addresses including Northern Ireland, though this varies by clinic — some remote postcodes may take an extra day. UK-regulated online pharmacies do not ship prescription medicines outside the United Kingdom.
Can I track my order?
Yes, through the clinic you ordered from — once dispatched, you'll receive tracking details by email and in its own account area. Contact that clinic's support team if tracking shows no movement after the expected delivery window.
What if my order has not arrived?
Check your tracking link first. If a parcel is lost or delayed beyond 7–10 working days from dispatch, contact the clinic's support team directly — they will investigate with the courier and arrange a redelivery or refund as appropriate.
Subscriptions & repeat orders
Monthly plans, pausing, cancelling, and how billing works for ongoing treatment with your chosen clinic.
Can I cancel or pause my subscription?
This is managed by the clinic you're with, not by Sanara. Most monthly treatment plans can be paused or cancelled by contacting that clinic's support team before your next billing date, with no long-term contract. If a supply has already been dispensed, that specific charge usually cannot be refunded — but you will not be charged again after cancellation.
Am I locked into a long-term contract?
Generally no — most clinics run rolling monthly plans you can change or stop. Some offer better value on multi-month plans, so check the specific clinic's terms; you should never be locked in beyond a period you have already paid for.
Are there hidden fees?
Reputable clinics show the full programme price before dispatch, including whether delivery is included or charged separately at checkout. There should be no separate prescriber fees on top of the listed treatment price — check this on the clinic's own site before you order.
When is payment taken for subscription refills?
This varies by clinic, but payment for your next supply is typically taken a short time before dispatch — often around 48 hours — so treatment arrives before you run out. Contact the clinic's support team before that point if you need to pause or stop refills.
Returns, refunds & cancellations
What you can return, refund timing if you are declined, and cancelling before dispatch.
Can I return unused prescription medicine?
No. Once dispensed and dispatched, prescription medicines cannot be returned or reused — this is the same rule at high-street pharmacies and across UK online clinics.
Can I return supplements or non-medicinal products?
Unopened, non-medicinal items from our shop may be returnable if unused and in resalable condition — see our Returns Policy for details. Opened food supplements cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.
Can I cancel before my order is dispatched?
Contact the clinic you ordered from as soon as possible, before you receive a dispatch confirmation. If your medicine has not yet been dispensed, a reputable clinic will cancel the order and release or refund the payment.
How long do refunds take?
This depends on the clinic and your bank, but approved refunds are typically returned to your original payment method within 3–5 working days. If a prescriber declines your consultation, the refund is usually processed as soon as that decision is made.
Account & privacy
How your health data stays with the clinic you choose, plus discreet billing, emails, and account security.
How is my information kept private?
Your consultation and health information stay with the regulated clinic you choose, protected under UK GDPR. Sanara never receives them. Sharing with your GP is optional and only with your consent — arranged with the clinic, not with us. Our own Privacy Policy explains the limited browsing and analytics data Sanara collects as a comparison platform.
Will my emails reveal what I ordered?
A discreet clinic uses a neutral subject line — your condition is not named in the subject or email preview. Order confirmations come from the clinic’s own support address — Sanara does not send order emails.
How do I set up an account?
Patient accounts are set up directly with the clinic you choose, as part of its own checkout process — Sanara does not hold patient accounts or health records. Contact that clinic's support team if you need help with your login.
How do I check my order status?
Check the dispatch email from the clinic you ordered from for tracking updates. For a manual status update, contact that clinic's support team with your order number and date of birth for verification.
How do I reset my password?
Password and login controls are managed by the clinic you registered with, not by Sanara. Contact that clinic's patient support team and they will verify your identity before sharing any account-access update.
How do I close my account?
Email the support team of the clinic you registered with to request account closure. They retain medical records for the period required by pharmacy and healthcare law.
Is my payment information stored securely?
Yes — payment details are processed by each clinic's own PCI-compliant payment partner. Sanara never sees or stores your card details, and reputable clinics do not store full card numbers on their own servers either.
Treatments & programmes
Common questions about weight loss, men's health, women's health, and our supplement shop.
How much does weight-loss treatment cost?
Weekly weight-loss treatment plans typically start from around £115 per month for starter doses, with dual-action pathways from around £149 per month at the clinics we compare. All-inclusive pricing usually covers clinical review, supplies, and delivery, but always confirm current pricing on the clinic's own site. See our weight-loss treatment page for every dose tier we track.
How much do ED tablets cost?
Short-acting on-demand tablets typically start from around £0.79 per tablet, daily tablets from around £0.93, and pharmacy-only options from around £4.60 — prices vary by clinic and are confirmed after assessment. See our men's health page for full comparisons.
How much do hair loss treatments cost?
Daily oral tablets typically start from around £0.36 per tablet, combined topical spray from around £21 per month, and complete oral-plus-topical plans from around £37 per month at the clinics we compare. Results are typically assessed at 3–6 months.
Are food supplements prescription medicines?
No. Supplements in our shop are food supplements, not prescription-only medicines, so they can be bought directly without a consultation. They are not a substitute for medical advice or prescribed treatment.
Do you offer NHS prescriptions or emergency care?
Sanara is a comparison platform, not an NHS service, pharmacy or emergency provider — and neither are most of the private online clinics we compare. For urgent medical help call 111; for emergencies call 999. Many clinics can work alongside your NHS GP with your consent, but none replace in-person care when it is needed.
What conditions can I compare treatment for?
We cover comparisons for weight management, hair loss, erectile dysfunction, male hormone health, premature ejaculation, women's health (contraception and menopause), general GP consultations, and eye health advice — plus a directly-sold shop of supportive supplements.
Treatment-specific questions
Side effects, eligibility, and what to expect — by programme. Also on each programme page.
Weight-loss treatment
Who is eligible for weight-loss treatment?
Licensed weekly weight-loss treatment is for adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related health problems, where BMI and clinical history meet MHRA-approved criteria. The clinic's clinicians confirm eligibility — clinics do not rely on self-reported weight alone for high-risk medicines and may ask for verification.
What are common side effects of weekly weight-loss treatment?
The most common side effects are digestive — nausea, reduced appetite, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea — especially when starting or increasing dose. These often improve as your body adjusts. Dose is titrated slowly with regular clinical review. Report severe or persistent symptoms promptly.
How does dose titration work?
You start on a low weekly dose and increase only when your clinician agrees you are tolerating treatment well. Each dose tier has its own monthly price. Do not increase faster than your care plan recommends.
How should I store my weekly treatment?
Follow the patient information leaflet supplied with your treatment. Most devices are refrigerated before first use and may be kept at room temperature for a limited period once in use. Never freeze. Use cold-chain delivery packs as guidance and contact us if a delivery arrives warm or damaged.
How much weight might I lose?
Results vary. Clinical trials show meaningful weight loss over months when treatment is combined with diet and activity changes — not from medicine alone. Your clinician sets realistic expectations based on your starting weight and health.
Can I switch between weekly and dual-action pathways?
Only with clinical review. Pathways use different medicines and titration schedules. Book a review through your account if you are not progressing or have side effects — do not switch products without clinical guidance.
Erectile dysfunction
How do ED tablets work?
Prescription ED tablets (PDE5 inhibitors) improve blood flow to the penis when you are sexually aroused. They do not cause an erection without stimulation. Your prescriber checks heart medicines, blood pressure, and other conditions before supply.
How long before sex should I take a tablet?
Short-acting on-demand tablets are usually taken 30–60 minutes before activity. Longer-acting on-demand options may work within 20–30 minutes and can support erections for up to 36 hours in suitable men. Daily low-dose tablets are taken every day at the same time — not only before sex.
Can I take ED tablets with alcohol?
Moderate alcohol may be acceptable for some men but can worsen ED and increase side effects such as dizziness or low blood pressure. Heavy drinking is discouraged. Always follow your prescriber's advice and the patient information leaflet.
Why can't I take ED tablets with nitrates?
PDE5 tablets must not be combined with nitrate medicines (often used for angina or chest pain) or certain recreational drugs — the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Tell your prescriber about all medicines and heart symptoms.
What is the difference between on-demand and daily tablets?
On-demand tablets are taken before sex when you need them. Daily low-dose tablets build a steady level so you do not plan around a pill — useful if you want spontaneity or have regular activity. Your prescriber helps you choose based on health and preference.
What if tablets do not work for me?
Contact the clinic's clinical team. Dose, timing, or an alternative format may help. Persistent ED can signal cardiovascular or hormonal issues — a prescriber may recommend blood tests or an in-person GP review.
Hair loss
How long before I see hair loss results?
Most men see reduced shedding by 3 months and visible regrowth by 6–12 months. The first weeks may include increased shedding — a normal sign the hair cycle is resetting. Photograph your hairline in consistent lighting to track progress honestly.
What are side effects of oral hair tablets?
Most men tolerate treatment well. A small number report reduced libido, erection changes, or mood effects. These usually resolve on stopping. Report any breast symptoms, rash, or depression promptly. Your prescriber explains risks before you start.
Should I use oral tablets, topical spray, or both?
Combined oral plus topical plans are the most effective approach for most men with male pattern loss. Topical-only or combined spray options suit men who prefer to avoid tablets or add scalp treatment. Your prescriber recommends what fits your history.
Is the combined topical spray different from minoxidil alone?
A combined spray delivers two clinically used topical actives in one bottle — a follicle stimulant plus a scalp DHT-blocking agent — whereas a standalone regrowth solution is typically minoxidil-class only. Your prescriber confirms the right format.
Can women use these hair plans?
These hair programmes are for male pattern hair loss in men. Women with thinning hair need a different assessment — see your GP, as some men's treatments are not safe in pregnancy or for female pattern loss.
What if I stop treatment?
Hair preserved or regrown while on treatment is typically lost gradually over months after stopping — the underlying pattern baldness continues. Discuss long-term plans with your prescriber before you start.
Male hormone health
Do I need a blood test before hormone treatment?
Yes. Testosterone replacement is only appropriate when blood tests confirm low hormone levels on at least two occasions, usually with symptoms. At-home kits are available, or a clinic can work with recent GP results where suitable.
What symptoms might low testosterone cause?
Possible symptoms include low mood, fatigue, reduced libido, erection difficulties, and loss of muscle mass — but these have many other causes. Tests before treatment are essential; treatment is not started on symptoms alone.
How is testosterone hormone treatment given?
Formats vary by clinic and typically include topical gel or oral capsule options. The clinic's clinicians explain application, monitoring, and fertility implications before you start.
How often will I need monitoring?
Regular blood tests check testosterone level, blood count, and prostate markers as appropriate. Expect review every few months initially, then at least annually when stable.
Premature ejaculation
What treatments are available for premature ejaculation?
Options include on-demand prescription tablets taken before activity, daily tablets that build a steady level, and practical behavioural techniques. Your prescriber selects what is safe with your other medicines.
How quickly do PE tablets work?
On-demand tablets are taken 1–3 hours before sex. Daily options may take 1–2 weeks to reach full effect. Techniques such as pause–squeeze can be used alongside medicine.
Can PE be linked to erectile dysfunction?
Yes — anxiety about erections can worsen ejaculation timing and vice versa. Both are often assessed together where relevant, with combined or stepwise care recommended.
Skincare & acne
Can I get acne treatment online in the UK?
Yes for many adults with moderate acne after prescriber assessment. Severe, scarring or suspected hormonal acne may need specialist referral.
How long before acne treatment works?
Allow 8–12 weeks of consistent use before judging results. Skin may flare briefly when starting retinoid treatment.
Is online acne treatment safe?
Safe when supplied by a GPhC pharmacy after review of pregnancy plans, mental health history and other medicines.
Hay fever & allergies
What is the best hay fever treatment?
Non-drowsy antihistamine tablets plus a steroid nasal spray if congestion is the main problem. Start 1–2 weeks before pollen season.
Can I buy hay fever tablets online?
Yes — pharmacy antihistamines and nasal sprays are available online after a short suitability check.
Stop smoking
What is the most effective way to quit smoking?
Combining behavioural support with nicotine replacement or prescription cessation tablets roughly doubles quit rates versus willpower alone.
Can I get stop-smoking tablets online?
Prescription cessation tablets are available online after clinical assessment confirming they are safe for you.
Sexual health infections
Can thrush be treated online?
Yes for uncomplicated thrush in adults who have had it before. Recurrent thrush needs review for underlying causes.
Is genital herpes treatment available online?
Antiviral tablets for outbreaks and daily prevention are available after clinical assessment.
Travel health
Do I need malaria tablets for my trip?
Depends on destination and season. Check NHS Fit for Travel — tablets are matched to your itinerary after assessment.
How far ahead should I order travel medicines?
Ideally 4–6 weeks before travel for malaria prevention so you can start on time and manage side effects.
Digestive health & migraine
Can I get acid reflux tablets online?
Repeat prescription acid suppression is available online after assessment confirming no red-flag symptoms.
Can migraine tablets be prescribed online?
Suitable adults with diagnosed migraine can obtain prescription acute tablets online after safety screening.
Women's health
Can I delay my period online?
Prescription progesterone tablets can postpone a period up to 17 days when started 3 days before it is due — if clinically suitable.
Is emergency contraception available online?
Yes with urgent assessment and same-day dispatch where clinically appropriate and within the effective time window.
Can I treat cystitis online?
Uncomplicated bladder infections in women may be treated with antibiotics after online assessment. Men, children and pregnant women need different pathways.
