Why order pet care from a pharmacy

Often cheaper than the vet counter

Practices mark up the medicines they dispense. A written prescription lets you shop the same treatment elsewhere.

Delivered to your door

No second trip to the practice for a refill — repeat items arrive on a schedule you set.

UK-registered pharmacy

Dispensed by a pharmacy on the GPhC register, so you get genuine UK-licensed products.

Using your vet’s prescription online

For prescription-only pet medicines you need a written prescription from your own vet — a pharmacy can then dispense exactly what they specified.

  1. Ask your vet for a written prescription

For a prescription-only pet medicine, ask the practice for a written prescription rather than the medicine itself. They may charge a small fee for writing it.

  2. Choose a registered pharmacy

Check the pharmacy is on the GPhC register and states clearly that it dispenses veterinary prescriptions.

  3. Send the prescription and order

The pharmacy checks the prescription against your pet’s details and dispenses the exact product your vet specified.

Pet health — common questions

Can I buy pet medicines online in the UK?

Yes. UK-registered pharmacies can supply non-prescription pet products directly, and can dispense prescription pet medicines against a prescription written by your pet’s own vet. Always follow the dosing and advice for your specific animal.

Do I need a prescription for flea and worm treatment?

It depends on the product. Many routine flea, tick and worm treatments are available without a prescription after a short suitability check; stronger products may need a vet or pharmacist’s authorisation.

Is Sanara a vet or a pharmacy?

No. Sanara Health is an independent comparison platform and marketing affiliate. We don’t provide veterinary advice or sell pet medicines — we point you to a UK-registered pharmacy’s pet-health service. For health concerns about your animal, always speak to your vet.

Not a veterinary service. For any health concern about your animal, contact your vet — in an emergency, call your nearest vet practice immediately.
